Servolution

Causing a revolutionary chain reaction
by serving the needs of others.

Destiny's theme for Fall 2011 through 2012
SERVOLUTION

What is it?
1. A complete and radical change of a person's life
caused by simple acts of kindness for the glory of God.
2. God's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
3. A church revolution through serving

Throughout the Bible, God's cry is heard as He calls out to
His people to notice others.
Others in nursing homes, others
living dysfunctional lives, others next door and
throughout our communities,
and others around the world.
Because of His intense love for the world,
He sent His Son to die for us, and whoever
believes in Jesus--whoever believes---will be saved. In
Jude 23 we are encouraged to help others who are doubting,
to snatch others from the fire, to show mercy to others around us.

If we will listen carefully, we will hear our Father telling us,
"I love you, I care about you, and I will move heaven and earth for
you. But I don't see only you; I see beyond you as well.
You belong to Me.  And because you're so precious to Me,
I want to have you join Me in my mission to reach others."
He wants to have us share in His joy
of seeing others find hope and healing in Jesus.
That's what He was telling us when He said,
"I've come to seek and to save what was lost."
We cannot let them get away.

Our lives represent more to God than we could ever
imagine--so many lives and
so many people to be brought to him.
Just like an apple seed holds within it the potential of
producing a new tree, which in turn will
bear thousands of other apples, so it is with our lives.
If we could see what God sees in us and what each of our
lives could mean for His kingdom,
we would be blown away.  There are others who can be
reached through us, and in addition,
there are others in our others.
God is counting on us to rise up and make the difference.

Our hope as a church living out Servolution, is that we
will all see the world from a new perspective,
that we will not wake up
thinking, "How can I grow our church today?" or
"How can I improve my career today?"
but rather that the first thought in our hearts every
morning will be, "How can I serve the people in my life today?
How can I reach out and care for those who
live next door and work in the
same office with me?"

We may never know until we get to heaven
how our service and our simple acts of kindness have
affected the course of a life, a community,
or even a nation. If we do nothing, the result will be---nothing!
However when we engage in a pursuit to serve others, and
a servolution is ignited to care for the hurting around us,
we will witness the most amazing results.
People will find hope and healing that can found
only in Jesus. We will find that we are part of
something much bigger than ourselves as we join with
Him in building His kingdom.

We invite you to join us in a movement that is rumbling
throughout the body of Christ,
a revolutionary army of people ready
to take up this mandate.  We are actively pursuing the lost,
the forgotten, and the poor to show them a God who is
passionately in love with them.  We stand ready with
one heart, saying, "We are here to do whatever, whenever,
so that others will not be condemned but unconditionally loved,
just the way they are. We will serve others and show them the
hope that can come only from the love of Jesus.

This is a revolution of serving others---a servolution.
The troops are followers of Christ, the companies of soldiers are
churches like Destiny, and the weapons are towels for service.
Once you have experienced the sense of purpose that
comes from serving others with every bit of energy, time, and
resources you possess, you'll want to serve more and more.
Get ready. God is about to touch the lives of others
in ways we never dreamed of.

ONGOING: We are keeping this spirit alive in all our lives
by RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS wherever and
to wherever we sense the need. It could be someone in a grocery
line that has to put back a few items due to a lack
of money. We could help them out as we see this. Helping
someone as we see and sense it throughout our day.
Simply learning to be sensitive to OTHERS and not just consumed
with ourselves makes life worth living and fulfilling.
And we do it all to the glory of God with
no expectation from anyone.
